Today I listed a few new bags, all of them green. I’ve had the bags felted and trimmed for quite a while now, and decided it was high time they were embroidered.
They can all be purchased from my Lilibeth’s Garden Etsy shop.

I finished another bag this morning. I have a thing for green, and after that I have a thing for all things lavender, especially earthy versions. I think it’s part of having hair that’s prone to auburn tones and having freckles. They are “my” colours.
I find lately that I’ve gotten braver in regards to my embroidery designs. For a time I stayed with what was safe, but perhaps when you grow and experience life on a deeper level, you are more daring. It manifests itself in your creativity.
I adore pottery buttons!! Heck I adore pottery! So organic and real.
Results of my latest fibery fun now listed in my etsy shop. I have lots of projects on the go, and many ideas bubbling around my head and on paper. I’m also thoroughly distracted with decorating my house via cans and cans of paint (see an example below). Spring has prompted me to be inclined to want to feather my nest! I have the need for new decorator pillows for a couch, I’m thinking felted and embroidered. Hmmmmm.
This used to be cobalt blue tile with a varnished oak mantle. A lick of paint and presto-chango!
A new table and pillows have added some joy to our family room. Now to get some warm pale green on the walls.
I was invited, along with many other etsians, to join a very motivation-inducing group started by the near legendary Brooke, a.k.a. Gemmafactrix. Here’s how she describes the group:
“I created this group to inspire creativity – in myself and others! The challenge is this: make something new every day for a month. You can continue on for longer, of course, but the idea is to create a new design, however simple, every day for a month. Often I get o caught up in selling my work – taking photos, packaging, shipping, updating my website – that I forget to just enjoy creating. Hopefully this group will help me – and you – do that.” 🙂
So, for the month of February, I will be trying my darndest to pop out one new item per day. Realistically, with how time-consuming my creations can be, this is going to be a tough challenge. No matter, it’s a great source of motivation.
The above purse is my Day 1 creation. It was 80% complete until an hour ago. I had yet to trim the flap. Trimming the flap takes forever!!!! I go around each and every square centimeter of that flap, neating it up with my scissors.
I dare say I’m going to have to give up eating and sleeping for the next 29 days!
Oatmeal-coloured wool felted mini-handbag with japanese inspired hand-embroidered bird.
Here are my latest finished bags, complete with zipper closures! I hadn’t done zippers in awhile and was a putting it off for a few days. It turned out to be less intimidating than I remembered, and I did 2 purses back to back.
I posted a bag yesterday in a bubble gum pink colour. Not a very wintery colour, but I think these days it doesn’t matter. Plus not everyone lives in a wintery climate.
I also just finished my first attempt at embroidery with cotton embroidery floss. I’ve been craving to do an owl but had yet to figure out a good design. I’m not sure I’d work with cotton again, I guess I prefer wool, but I needed something very thin to get the detail. I’ll be posting this baby tomorrow when I can take proper photos, as the lighting outside is just to bright with that lovely sun shining. Most pics taken today made the bag look like the colour of cocoa powder, when it’s really a yummy shade of dark brown.
I’ve had a couple of small felted purses sitting around, waiting to be embroidered. I had intended to gear them towards little girls. I finished one and immediately realized that I myself would use such a small purse. It’s certainly not fit for carrying around a truckload of stuff, but certainly up for the job of toting around a few small necessities like a cellphone, wallet, small camera, and a few other items.
It would still be perfect for a little girl, but plenty useful for a big girl too. I’ll be listing this particular one later on this evening.
